# Connecting an Opt-Out Dataset

> Connect a dataset of opted-out users so a connector removes them from the audiences it delivers

An [opt-out connection](https://docs.narrative.io/reference/glossary.md#opt-out-connection) links a dataset of opted-out users to a connector, and the connector removes every identifier in that dataset from the audiences it delivers. This guide creates one for Google DV360, PubMatic, Reddit, Snapchat, or TikTok.

How far a removal reaches differs by connector. Each connector's reference page describes it under **Opt-outs**.

## Prerequisites

Before you begin, you need:

* The connector installed, with a profile that meets the requirement in the table below. Each connector's setup guide is in the [Connectors](https://docs.narrative.io/reference/connectors.md) tab.
* A dataset of opted-out users that carries the columns the connector's picker looks for.

| Connector | Profile you need | Datasets the picker offers |
| - | - | - |
| [Google DV360](https://docs.narrative.io/reference/connectors/google-dv360.md#opt-outs) | At least one profile | Datasets with at least one identifier column Customer Match reads, or a complete postal address. Google only matches an address when the name, country, and address arrive together |
| [PubMatic](https://docs.narrative.io/reference/connectors/pubmatic.md#opt-outs) | At least one enabled profile. The connection is created under your first profile | Datasets with both an identifier column PubMatic matches on and a geographic column, [`iso_3166_1_country`](https://app.narrative.io/platform/rosetta-stone/attributes/iso_3166_1_country) or [`ip_address`](https://app.narrative.io/platform/rosetta-stone/attributes/ip_address). The geographic column is required because the removal file PubMatic reads carries a country column |
| [Reddit](https://docs.narrative.io/reference/connectors/reddit.md#opt-outs) | At least one connected profile | Datasets with at least one identifier column Reddit's audience delivery reads |
| [Snapchat](https://docs.narrative.io/reference/connectors/snapchat.md#opt-outs) | At least one enabled profile | Datasets with at least one identifier column Snapchat's audience delivery reads |
| [TikTok](https://docs.narrative.io/reference/connectors/tiktok.md#opt-outs) | At least one connected profile | Datasets with at least one identifier column TikTok's audience delivery reads |

No picker offers a dataset that is already connected as an opt-out source. For Google DV360, that check applies to the selected profile.

## Connect the dataset

**1. Open the Opt Out Configuration tab**

In **Installed Apps**, open the connector and select the **Opt Out Configuration** tab. The tab lists the datasets currently feeding opt-outs.

**2. Choose a profile (Google DV360 only)**

When you have more than one DV360 profile, pick the one whose opt-outs you want to see or add to. With a single profile it is selected for you.

**3. Connect a dataset**

Click **Connect opt out dataset** (**Connect a dataset** on Snapchat) and pick the dataset.

**4. Select a profile (Snapchat only)**

Choose one of your enabled Snapchat profiles. Snapchat uses the profile for bookkeeping only, so it doesn't limit which audiences receive the opt-outs.

**5. Confirm the opt-out**

A confirmation names the dataset you picked and the connector it applies to. Connecting it opts every identifier in the dataset out of that connector and cannot be undone, so check the name before you click **Accept**.
