# Setting Up the LinkedIn Connector

> Install the LinkedIn Connector, connect a profile to the LinkedIn account you use in Campaign Manager, and reconnect it before the LinkedIn grant expires

This guide installs the LinkedIn Connector, creates a profile, and connects that profile to the LinkedIn account you use in Campaign Manager. It also covers reconnecting the profile when LinkedIn's grant is about to expire or has expired.

## Prerequisites

Before you begin, check that you meet the [LinkedIn Connector requirements](https://docs.narrative.io/reference/connectors/linkedin.md#requirements).

## Install the connector

In Narrative, open the **LinkedIn Connector** listing in the marketplace and click **Install**. Review the permissions the app asks for, check **Acknowledge and accept**, and click **Install**. The connector then appears in **Installed Apps**.

## Connect a profile

A profile holds one LinkedIn grant. Every audience and opt-out you deliver to LinkedIn goes through a connected profile.

**1. Open the connector**

In **Installed Apps**, select **LinkedIn Connector**. The connector opens on its **Profiles** tab.

**2. Create a profile**

Click **Add profile** and fill in:

* **Profile name**: the name that identifies the profile throughout Narrative. It must be unique.
* **Profile description** *(optional)*: a short note on what the profile is for.

Click **Create profile**.

**3. Connect to LinkedIn**

Click **Connect to LinkedIn**. A new window opens. Log in with the LinkedIn account you use in Campaign Manager and grant the permissions LinkedIn asks for. The connector page updates by itself once LinkedIn confirms the grant, and the profile's status changes to **Connected**.

If your browser blocks the window, allow popups for Narrative and click **Connect to LinkedIn** again.

**4. Check the ad accounts**

Click the profile's name to open it. The **Ad accounts** section lists the LinkedIn ad accounts the grant reaches. Click **Refresh** to read them from LinkedIn again after you create or join one.

The list leaves out test accounts, closed accounts, and accounts where your LinkedIn role is Viewer. You pick an ad account later, when you connect a dataset or browse audiences on the **Audiences** tab.

## Reconnect before the grant expires

LinkedIn's grant has an expiry date, which the profile page shows under **LinkedIn grant expires**. The profile's status shows how close that date is:

| Status | What it means | What to do |
| - | - | - |
| **Connected** | The grant is valid for more than 7 days | Nothing |
| **Expiring** | The grant expires within 7 days. Deliveries still run | Reconnect before the date |
| **Expired** | The grant has expired, and deliveries to LinkedIn have stopped | Reconnect to start them again |
| **Not Connected** | The profile has never been connected | Click **Connect to LinkedIn** |

To reconnect, open the profile and click **Reconnect to LinkedIn**, or choose **Reconnect to LinkedIn** from the profile's menu on the **Profiles** tab. Log in to LinkedIn in the window that opens, as you did the first time. The new grant replaces the old one on the same profile, so the profile keeps its ad accounts and the connections that deliver through it.

> [!WARNING]
>
> A delivery that fails because the grant expired isn't retried. Reconnect while the profile shows **Expiring** so no delivery is lost.
